It was about 13 or 14 months ago that I decided I needed to get more serious about my fitness. Although I was at an all-time low for weight, I felt weak, soft, and rundown. I liked the numbers on the scale but realized I really wasn't happy with how my body looked or felt. So I decided to get serious about getting in shape and spent big bucks on the Chalean Extreme program from Beachbody. This was a good way for me to get serious about fitness because 1. I'm cheap and if I spend money on something I feel guilted in to using it and 2. I'm a box checker and this program laid out exactly what I needed to do each day. So for 7 months I followed this program to a "T". I felt stronger, looked stronger, had more energy, and had lost a bit of size. However, I also had been dealing with some injuries that I thought were just from growing old but I've since realized it was actually from the program itself. I was also started to get bored after doing the same thing for 7 months and needed a bit of variety.
So in entered Physique 57. I had heard about "barre" workouts and tried a few that I was able to rent from Netflix. Overall, I liked the style of the workouts I borrowed but wasn't thrilled with the intensity or the pace. Then I happened to see a spot on Regis and Kelly one morning while I was cooking breakfast. Kelly was praising her workout regimen, Physique 57, for really whipping her into shape and was promoting the new set of work at home DVD's they had just come out with. After a bit of internet searching, I bit the bullet and bought the entire 3 DVD set.
They arrived a few weeks later and I jumped in full force. I followed their recommendations and did the 57 minute Classic DVD 3 days a week and each of the shorter, 30 minute DVD's one day a week. I also added in a bodyrock.tv workout, or later, a TRX workout once a week. This is the routine I've been following since Oct. and I've been really happy with the results! I haven't had the injuries I suffered from CLX, I've lost a bit of the weight I gained during CLX, I slimmed down, looked tighter and toner, and just really enjoyed my workouts every morning. I've also noticed a big improvement in my muscle endurance. When I started the P57 program I don't think I could make it through any of the sets without having to stop and take a break. Now I can complete all of the sets, doing some of the advanced moves, and unfortunately, don't feel nearly as worked out. I'm anxiously awaiting the next set of DVD's that are supposed to be in production so I can continue doing this type of workout since it seems to work well for me. In fact, yesterday I took my measurements again just so I'd have something to gauge the results I get from doing the bodyrock.tv workouts and I was pleasantly surprised at the numbers I had. I knew I was feeling stronger, more energetic, and thought I looked leaner but really hadn't look at the numbers for quite awhile. I'm going to post them here just because I'm proud of them and it also seems like an easy way for me to keep track of them.
