Workouts

Well, I'm back from our family get-together in Minnesota and we had a great time.  I was quite anxious about going since I figured I wouldn't have much chance to workout and would have a hard time controlling my eating.  Unfortunately, I was right about not being able to control my eating but I did get a chance to workout 4 of the 8 days I was gone.... so overall things weren't too bad.  I found out my sister in law is as dedicated to working out as I am so we encouraged each other and exercised together a few days.  She does a lot of hiking/running so she led the workout one day and we combined some running with some trail hiking.  Another day I took the lead and we did a mix of workouts from the bodyrock.tv website..... I think she is hooked.  I don't remember the exact workout we did but it was a mix of 10 different exercises performed for 2 minutes each in intervals of 10/50.  It was a pretty intense workout and I liked having someone to keep pushing me.

Yesterday was my first day back and I did a slightly modified version of the Hot Body Pump wo (http://www.myomytv.com/hot-body-pump-workout/) from the myomytv.com website. I modified it by changing the 15 tricep dips to 20 1-legged can can/tricep dips, adding 10 power jumping jacks to each round, and doing 4 rounds of the exercises instead of 3. The "Evil Jumps" really were evil! They really fatigued my legs and got me breathing hard.  Here are the exercises from the workout:

1. Reptile Push Ups 10
2. Dynamic squat into jump lunges (Evil Jumps) 20
3. Push Up into Alternate Side Bridge with Raise 10
4. Single Leg Dead Lift with Jump (right) 10
5. Single Leg Dead Lift with Jump (left) 10
6. Tricep Dips with 1-legged Can Can 20
7. Power Jumping Jacks 10

Today I did a workout from fitmiss.tv......a great website I found through my check-in friends on videofitness.com.  I did the Metabolic Insanity workout which is 8 minutes each of two different couplets of exercises.  The couplets are:

1. 10 Jump Lunges/ 5 Push Ups
2. 5 Jump Thrusts (burpees)/ 5 Side T-Planks

I was able to do 20 complete rounds of the first couplet and 15 complete rounds of the second couplet.  Overall it was a pretty good workout.  The jump lunges and jump thrusts got my breathing going and the plank work is good for my core.
